Rights Respecting Schools

UNICEF is the world’s leading organisation working to protect and promote children’s rights. Every child, wherever they live, has the right to grow up safe, happy, and healthy.

At Phoenix Infant Academy, we place children’s rights at the heart of everything we do. Guided by our ethos, “Together We Soar,” we are committed to creating a safe, inclusive environment where every child feels valued and supported to reach their full potential.

As a proud participant in the UNICEF Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA), our Rights Respecting School Ambassadors play a vital role in school life. They lead and organise assemblies, school and community events, celebrations, and competitions, helping to raise awareness of children’s rights across the school community. They act as a strong and positive voice for their peers, ensuring that all children feel heard and represented.

Alongside this, all children develop their understanding of rights through the curriculum, assemblies, class discussions, educational programmes such as Newsround, and wider school activities. This ensures that children’s rights are embedded in everyday learning and school life in a meaningful and engaging way.

Our school rules — Be Safe, Be Kind, Be Respectful, Try Your Best — reflect these values, helping children understand their rights, respect others, and develop confidence, empathy, and resilience. At Phoenix Infant Academy, we nurture caring, responsible learners who feel heard, supported, and ready to soar!
