Message from our Principal - Miss Jarrett

It seems only yesterday that we were starting the school year in September and now, here we are at the end! This has been a year filled with many delights.  My personal favourite memories have included the wonderful Reception nativity in December, reading great new stories to many classes, having our first ever School Librarians and finishing the year with our first Phoenix Art Exhibition! There are just too many to mention everything!

It has been a year of change - for me personally as well as for our school community. It has been wonderful to have been given this amazing opportunity to lead our school and I am looking forward to September (do take a look at the calendar on our website to see some of the fabulous things we have planned already)!

We also remember with sadness and affection Mr Simon, who sadly passed away in April.  His kindness and memories will always be with us.

We wish our Year 2's well as they move on to Year 3! They have all been amazing during their time with us and we will miss them! We know that they are ready for the next stage of their journey and will all be brilliant!

I hope you all have a wonderful summer holiday and I look forward to seeing our new Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children in September!

Year 2 Leavers Picnic

Year 2 had a fabulous time at their leavers picnic this week! The forecast was not great but when we got to the park the sun came out and the rain stayed away! The children had a lovely time playing games, spending time on the playground equipment and eating lunch! They especially enjoyed the mini pizza's and cupcakes they had made!

Summer Fair

By contrast with the Year 2 picnic, it absolutely poured with rain on the day of the summer fair! However this did not deter us and we all had a wonderful time! Thank you so much to all the staff for manning stalls and to everyone for coming along and supporting us.  We raised £670 which was amazing!

We are already making plans for the Christmas Fair - if you know anyone who would like a stall please do let us know (if you haven't already got your name down)!

Arts Week 2023

Our theme for Arts Week 2023 was all about movement. The children experienced opportunities to explore movement in art in a variety of forms. They started the week taking on the role as photographers using iPads to capture how we move whilst jumping in the air. The children looked for the lines of trajectory in the captured photographs and used a range of media to edit their work with the lines of trajectory outlined.

Next up, the children transformed into fashion designers and drew their T-shirt designs. They then used a wide spectrum of colourful fabric paints to create their masterpieces! The teachers enjoyed making their designs too!

On to our focus artist of the week, Heather Day, an abstract artist https://heatherday.com we watched how Heather mixed media to create large scale abstract paintings. After all this inspiration, it was time for the children to explore how paint mixes together to create their unique canvas art!

After this, we introduced the next artist of the week, Jackson Pollock. We focused in on his 'drip technique' and how paint moves through the air to create art. This was a big messy but marvellous large-scale collaboration of artists! The giggles resounded through the playgrounds as we splattered and splashed to create a magical masterpiece of colour!

Throughout the week the children also demonstrated our school values as they persevered with great optimism in sketching several drafts of their class birds in flight.

We ended with a spectacular celebration of all the children's successes in our first school art exhibition! Thank you to all those who attended, it was wonderful to observe such excitement and pride in their creations. We are already planning next years, so watch this space!
