Welcome back to our final half term of the school year! There is lots going on this term, so please make sure you are checking the school calendar on the website (click here for the link) so you know what's coming up! Arts week, sports day , PIA summer fair and the Y2 Leavers Assembly are just some of the events taking place!
This half term the HEROIC value we are learning about is Curiosity. This week Miss Austin led an assembly on this for children in Years 1 and 2 - please do ask them how they have been curious this week?
This weekend is due to be very hot! Stay hydrated and enjoy the sunshine!

SAFEGUARDING
Sun Safety
As the weather is starting to warm up please ensure your child is dressed appropriately. Please ensure the following:
- Put suncream on your child before they come to school
-Bring a water bottle to school EVERY DAY
-Wear a named hat to school EVERY DAY. We recommend the hat that is available at the uniform shop as this protects the back of children's necks.
-Wear appropriate clothing - summer uniform is strongly encouraged. Please do not wear tights (whilst it might be cooler in the morning, by lunchtime the classrooms and playgrounds are hot). Staff will ask children to remove tights where required. We recommend white shorts under the summer dress if required as an alternative.
We love celebrating our children's learning! Jodhveer this week wrote some amazing phrases and in Blackbird class Harkirat and Parinoor were using watercolour paints to paint some amazing sunflower pictures!
Class Arrangements for 2023-2024
Here at Phoenix we are already making lots of plans for the next academic year! Following a very successful trial this year with our current Year 2 classes, we will be mixing up classes in both Year 1 and Reception for next year. This enables us to ensure classes are balanced, enabling us to better meet children's needs . It also ensures that children have the chance to broaden their friendship groups, using their developing social skills to interact with new children. We recognise that this may cause some parents to worry, but please be assured that our teachers know your children really well and will be sensitive to their friendship groups where needed. If you have any particular concerns, please do speak to your child's class teacher. Children will have the chance to spend time in their new classes on Transition Day, Tuesday 4th July.
INSET Day changes - 2023-2024
Please be advised that we have made a change to our INSET days scheduled for 23-24 academic year. School will now start back for children on Wednesday 6th September. Please see the Term Dates section of the school website for further details.
School Photographs
Our lovely school photographs are now available to purchase.
Please can you complete the order form online or hand it in to school by no later than Tuesday 20th June 2023.
Plans are already underway for our Summer Fair! School will finish at 2pm on this day so that everyone can come and enjoy the fair! We are looking for donations and volunteers to help!
We would be grateful if you could donate the following items, via either your class teachers or the school office:
Bottles (e.g. fizzy drinks/fruit shoot/toiletries etc) for a bottle tombola
Chocolates/sweets for a sweets tombola
Toys/Books
We are also looking for anyone who could run a stall (e.g Henna/face painting). We will request donations of cakes - but please do not bring these until 13th/14th July.
If anyone would like to have their own stall at the Summer Fair please get in touch with the school office to book your place.

We have had a period of amazing attendance recently and we would really like it to continue. For the next 3 weeks, we are having another Attendance Challenge - please see the posted below.
A few parents have already asked Mr Bowskill if the prizes are for each child - unfortunately the answer is no, Mr Bowskill wishes school budgets would stretch that far! The prizes on offer are for 1 child in each year group, who will be chosen at random, from the list of children who have reached 100% attendance in this period.
Our Year 1s had a great time at @bekonscot last week. They loved the workshop where they got to learn about and play with old and new toys. Thank you for having us! https://t.co/qcpyhrarKG
This week, Miss Holmes from @SloughMusic came in to share her instruments with Year 1. She showed us how the flute can sound like many different things, such as birds, heroes and princesses! https://t.co/AcQsqJHW2o
We had a great evening reading bedtime stories in our pjs with milk and biscuits! The children loved listening to "I am A Tiger" by @Karlwheel #bookweek #ReadingIsFun https://t.co/xC0Jqc4tIA
A huge thank you to @Tesco for their donations to our Bedtime Stories event! It is so generous of you and the children are very excited! An extra thank you to Gemma, one of our lovely parents and Tesco employee, for organising. #EveryLittleHelps #Tesco https://t.co/8xyGrgefB4
