Messages from the Principal, Miss Jarrett

Dear Parents,

As we approach the culmination of another remarkable academic year, I find myself reflecting upon the extraordinary journey our school community has undertaken together. Our children have achieved excellent outcomes across all year groups, including an outstanding 93% success rate in the Year 1 Phonics Screening Check, which is significantly above national averages. This final week holds particular significance as we celebrate our Year 2 children, whose dedication and growth throughout their time at Phoenix Infant Academy has been truly inspiring. Their Leavers assembly and celebration picnic will serve as a fitting tribute to their achievements, and we extend our warmest wishes as they embark upon their transition to Year 3.

I must express my profound gratitude to everyone who contributed to making our Summer Fair an unprecedented success. The overwhelming support from our community transformed this event into our most successful fundraiser to date, generating over £3300 for essential equipment and resources that will directly benefit our children's educational experience. Particular recognition must be given to Mrs Tibballs, whose exceptional organisational skills and unwavering commitment served as the driving force behind this remarkable achievement. The enthusiasm and participation demonstrated by all attendees created an atmosphere of genuine celebration and community spirit.

As we prepare for the summer break, please note that school concludes at 1.30pm on Friday 18th July, with our return scheduled for Wednesday 3rd September. I wish you all a wonderful final week and a truly fabulous summer holiday.

Best wishes

Miss Jarrett

Principal

Celebrating our Children!

In Design Technology the Year 1 children have been designing and making shelters. They had to think about many features including how to make it strong, sturdy and waterproof. Thank you to all the parents who came to our curriculum morning yesterday to see the children`s designs, shelters and help your child to evaluate them.

Zara “I like my shelter because it's strong and sturdy”. “I added lots of tape to cover the box”.

Rayyan “My shelter has shields to protect it”.

Hammed “My shelter is strong and protected because the rain will come and make it soggy”.

Azan “My shelter has some doors so people can get inside”.

Kareem “My shelter is good because it has a top, looks like a boat and it has flaps at the side”.

Sabrina “I like my shelter because it has a door that opens and shuts and a garden”.

Year 2 had a wonderful time at the beach - paddling in the water, building sandcastles and eating ice cream! This year the weather was kind to us and a great time was had by all.

The Nest

What a Fantastic End to the Term to Inclusion pupils !

What an exciting and action-packed end to the term it’s been for our brilliant Year 1 and Year 2 pupils in The Nest!

One of the highlights was our adventure to Eton College, where our children took part in the Inclusive Tennis Skills Festival. It was more than just tennis—it was a celebration of teamwork, determination, and fun! Watching the children support one another, build confidence, and develop new skills on the court was truly inspiring.

We also came together this week for a special End-of-Term Celebration, where we proudly recognised the progress and achievements of every child. There was laughter, smiles, and even a few happy tears as we looked back at everything they’ve accomplished this term.

To top it all off, some lucky pupils enjoyed a scenic boat trip along the river at Bisham, Marlow—a magical way to wrap up the term with sunshine, fresh air, and unforgettable memories.

Music Updates

Everyone Can Play

This week 12 of our Year 2 children were selected to attend the Slough Music Service, Everyone Can Play event with their ukuleles. This saw schools from across Slough come together with the instruments they have been learning to play and sing together.  Once again, our children were the youngest in attendance, however they did not let this stop them.  We were so proud of them - especially as the Slough Music teachers all came and praised them for excellent behaviour and participation all day.

Zumar "I enjoyed singing "Let Love Shine Through" because I like the words that show how you feel."

Haider "I liked the performance because I liked when we were singing the songs."

Agata "I loved singing with the band because I like working in a group"
